This charity concert takes place with regard to laying the foundation stone for the Jewish campus. The Jewish Campus is intended to be a cross-religious, lively meeting place for young and old, offering everything from birth to adult life.

It is with great pleasure that we are building the Jewish campus to ensure continuity and to secure a positive future for tolerance and togetherness in Berlin and throughout Germany.

The only musical program composed for this evening is under the direction of the conductor Michael Zukernik. At the age of 19, Michael Zukernik became a classical drummer and was the youngest member of the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion. During his subsequent career, the successful drummer participated in numerous conducting lessons. Because, as he says, a conductor needs an orchestra, in 2002 he founded his Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra Berlin, which he successfully directs to this day.

Michail Zukernik finds it an honor to conduct this concert and to send out a signal for a positive future for tolerance and togetherness in Berlin and beyond.

A very special guest comes specially from New York. Cantor Yitzchak Meir Helfgot overflows the world of the audience with passion and boundless joy by creating the holy Jewish music and operatic classics.

This is followed by Tchaikovsky's 1st Piano Concerto. The piece is one of his most popular works and is one of the most famous piano pieces worldwide. The unusual opening motif of the first movement already shows Tchaikovsky's unmistakable style and made it one of the most internationally popular piano concertos.

On the wing sits the internationally known and virtuoso pianist Andrei Gavrilov. He won the Tchaikovsky Competition at the age of eighteen and after a semester at the Conservatory in 1974, gaining international fame when he joined Svjatoslaw Richter in the same year at the Salzburg Festival. The phenomenal piano playing of Andrei Gavrilov was honored by a series of highest honors. Also his numerous recordings at EMI and the German Grammophon were honored with various awards.

Antonín Dvořák called his ninth and last symphony "The New World", which is one of the most performed symphonies in the world. It represents the last culmination of his symphonic work and serves us as the culmination of this evening, a concert tour through the musical world.
