Erez Ofer

Violin
Erez Ofer was born in Israel and his first violin lessons he started with Prof. Ilona Feher, the teacher of such musicians as Pinchas Zukerman and Shlomo Mintz.
At the age of 12, he won the Israeli Broadcasting Service competition. Already with 15 years he performed with Isaac Stern and the Israel Philharmonic. A year later, he studied with Prof. Josef Gingold at Indiana University and won the I.U. Paganini competition. After his military service, he continued his studies in Germany with Prof. Nicolas Chumanchenco at the University of Music Freiburg. In 1991 Erez Ofer improved his knowledge at the Juilliard School in New York with Prof. Dorothy Delay.
His musical career is accompanied by several spectacular successes: 1st Prize at the ARD Competition in Munich, the Gold medal at the Zino-Francescatti competition in France, 1st Prize at the Israeli broadcasting competition, Silver medal at the world-famous Queen Elisabeth competition in Belgium and the Paganini prize at the Tibor Varga Competition.
Between 1993 and 1998, Erez Ofer was Concert master of the Symphony orchestra of the Bavarian Radio directed by Lorin Maazel and of the Philadelphia Orchestra directed by Wolfgang Sawallisch. In 2002, Erez Ofer was First Concertmaster of the Radio Symphony orchestra Berlin (RSB). In 2003 he performed as a soloist for the first time with his orchestra in the Konzerthaus at Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin (Johannes Brahms: violin Concerto).
In spite of his commitment to the RSB Erez Ofer remains an active soloist and chamber musician. Especially with the Amernet String Quartet, he is worldwide sensation. As a soloist, he performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the IsraelPhilharmonic, the Bavarian radio Symphony orchestra, the Belgian National orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo and the Jerusalem Symphony.
Erez Ofer is a brilliant violin virtuoso with the classical repertoire for violin solo and performs also as a chamber music partner with pianist.
